Facilitate filers instead of imposing penalties, says Tax Bar President

The President of Pakistan Tax Bar condemned the notices issued against non-filers, while the All Pakistan Traders Association demanded the appointment of empowered focal persons to resolve traders’ issues.

Reacting to the FBR notices, the President of the Tax Bar Association criticized the warning to disconnect SIMs, electricity, and gas connections of those who fail to file returns by September 30, calling it condemnable.

He urged that instead of imposing fines, filers should be provided with facilities.

He added that the government has failed to implement trader-friendly schemes, and action should be taken against those challenging the government’s authority.

Meanwhile, President of the All Pakistan Traders Association, Ashraf Bhatti, demanded the appointment of empowered focal persons to address traders’ issues, emphasizing that 4 million traders are contributing to economic development.

He noted that instead of appreciating traders, their difficulties are being increased. High taxes and rising utility bills have already made doing business difficult.
