Dubai: In a practice match before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Scotland showed off a strong performance as they easily defeated Pakistan by eight wickets on Saturday. With a score of 3/22, Kathryn Bryce stole the show, as her team, led by openers Saskia Horley and Sarah Bryce, won easily with 12 balls remaining.
After captain Fatima Sana won the toss, Pakistan decided to bat first. However, the team struggled to get going.
After 20 overs, they concluded their innings at 132/9, a total that proved to be far from difficult for the Scottish team to reach.
The Green Shirts faltered early on, losing the first wicket in the second over to Kathryn Bryce’s Sadaf Shams (2), bringing the score to 10/1.
Scotland capitalized on the early breakthrough, with Olivia Bell further denting Pakistan’s hopes by removing key batters Sidra Amin and Nida Dar, both for just four runs, in successive overs. Abtaha Maqsood also made her mark by dismissing Gull Feroza (14), reducing Pakistan to a precarious 35/4 in under seven overs.
Muneeba Ali, the wicketkeeper, tried to steady Pakistan’s innings with a 27 from 22 balls that included three boundaries.
