The Primary and Secondary Health Care Department of Punjab has launched disciplinary proceedings against Dr. Riaz Hashmi, Chief Consultant at Govt. Shahbaz Sharif DHQ Hospital, Multan, following allegations of his involvement in supporting unlicensed medical practitioners.
A notice issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Health Authority (DHA) Multan on Sept. 30, 2024, accuses Dr. Hashmi of aiding Ahmad Clinic, an unlicensed facility in Alfalah Market, operated by quack Mst. Shagufta Nasreen, a midwife.
The letter states that Dr. Hashmi’s actions constitute gross misconduct and are highly objectionable. He has been directed to provide an explanation within two days or face strict disciplinary measures under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006.
