Drone attack targets Netanyahu’s residence

A drone strike targeting the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was launched from Lebanon, according to a report by Al Jazeera.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military claimed that the drone, originating from Lebanon, targeted Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea, north of Tel Aviv. At the time of the attack, neither Netanyahu nor his family were present. No injuries or casualties were reported, and the Israeli military confirmed that two additional drones entering Israeli airspace were destroyed.

This incident comes amid remarks by U.S. President Joe Biden, who had recently suggested that a war between Iran and Israel could be prevented.

Biden indicated that while a ceasefire in Lebanon might be achievable, it would be much more difficult to secure one in Gaza.

Speaking to journalists at the end of his Berlin visit, Biden expressed optimism that conflicts between Israel and Iran in the Middle East could be temporarily resolved, offering alternative approaches to address tensions with both nations.

On October 17, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had been killed, declaring that Israel’s mission was still ongoing, particularly concerning the release of hostages.

Yahya Sinwar had been appointed as Hamas’ political leader on August 6, 2024, following the death of former leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was reportedly killed in an Israeli bombing in Tehran, Iran’s capital. Haniyeh had been invited to Tehran for the inauguration of the new Iranian president and was targeted by a bomb allegedly planted by Israel.
