LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has taken strict action against cheating during the ongoing Class 9 annual examinations 2026, as part of its drive to ensure transparency.
During the Physics paper, Controller of Examinations Tauseef-ur-Rehman carried out surprise visits to several examination centres and caught multiple candidates using unfair means.

At Government Associate College for Boys in Raiwind, a book was recovered from a candidate inside the examination hall. Another student at the same centre was also found cheating. At Government Girls High School on Bedian Road in Kasur, a female candidate was caught red-handed while copying during the exam.
All the involved students have been booked under Unfair Means Cases (UMC), and further disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with board rules.
The controller of examinations said that the board is following a zero-tolerance policy against cheating in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar, and the chairman of the board task force committee. He added that maintaining complete transparency in examinations is the board’s top priority and no one will be allowed to violate merit.
A spokesperson for the Lahore Board said strict monitoring will continue in the upcoming papers to protect the rights of hardworking students.
In a separate development, the board has also announced relief for Matric and Intermediate students who fail in any subject. Students will now be allowed to appear in supplementary exams up to six times within four years to clear their failed subjects, providing them with greater flexibility and improved chances of completing their studies.
