Ahmed Shehzad slams Jason Gillespie for sticking with underperforming players in test squad

Pakistan Test cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has voiced criticism against head coach Jason Gillespie for not making changes to the squad.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently unveiled a 15-member team for the upcoming Test series against England.

The squad is nearly identical to the one that recently lost 2-0 to Bangladesh in a disappointing series.

Jason Gillespie defended the decision, advocating for patience and advising against making hasty changes based on a single bad series.

“We don’t want to rush into decisions. These players are talented, and one poor series doesn’t define them,” Gillespie remarked.

However, Shehzad expressed disagreement on social media, calling for more accountability and necessary adjustments in the team.

Shehzad stated,“Before your arrival, we were already losing consistently, and yet no significant changes have been made.”

He urged Gillespie to acknowledge that every coach faces early challenges, and failing to address underperformance stalls progress.

Shehzad further emphasized that previous coaches also struggled with the same group, questioning the reluctance to make changes.

This disagreement between Shehzad and Gillespie highlights the ongoing challenges Pakistan faces ahead of their Test series against England.
