Ashwin equals Muralitharan’s Test record

The record for the most Player of the Series accolades in Test cricket, set by the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka, has been matched by Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the most recent Kanpur Test, and Ashwin was named Player of the Series for his outstanding play.

In addition to hitting a century in the Chennai Test match against Bangladesh, Ashwin claimed 11 wickets throughout the series, earning him the title of Player of the Series.

With this accomplishment, Ashwin may tie the record of 11 Player of the Series victories in Test cricket held by Muralitharan. While Ashwin has only completed 35 series, Muralitharan has completed 56.
