Dengue alert issued for October by Meteorological Department

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for a possible dengue outbreak in October 2024.

According to a report by the state news agency APP, the Meteorological Department has warned that there could be a significant increase in dengue cases during October, especially in the country’s major cities.

The report highlights that cities like Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Larkana, and Multan, along with other areas affected by post-monsoon rains, are at high risk.

In the past decade, dengue fever has severely impacted public health after the monsoon season.

The warning states that the period from September 20 to December 5 could be particularly dangerous for the spread of dengue, with environmental factors playing a key role.

The Meteorological Department has urged the public to follow preventive measures to curb the spread of dengue.
