Increase in cyber attacks on video gaming enthusiasts revealed

New York: There has been a rise in the number of cyber attacks targeting young video gaming enthusiasts.

According to a report by Kaspersky, there has been a 30% increase in cyber attacks on young gamers in the first six months of this year. Cybercriminals use popular games as bait to lure their victims.

The report analyzed the potential risks posed by popular children’s video games revealing that more than 132,000 users were targeted by cyber attacks from July 2023 to June 2024.

Security expert Vasily Kolsenikov noted that attacks on children are becoming a common vector for cybercriminal activities. Therefore, raising awareness about cybersecurity and using reliable security solutions are essential for ensuring the safety of children in the online environment.

He emphasized the importance of fostering critical thinking, responsible online behaviour and a strong understanding of threats to create a safer and more positive digital experience for users.

Kaspersky advised parents to educate their children about the potential dangers they may face online and to enforce strict guidelines to ensure their safety.

Experts have also developed the Kaspersky Cybersecurity Alphabet with key cybersecurity concepts. This book will help children familiarize themselves with new technologies, learn how to avoid online threats and recognize the tactics used by scammers.
