Infinix has quietly launched its budget smartphone of the month, Smart 9. This phone promises up to 48 months of uninterrupted and seamless operation. So far, the Smart 9 can be found in Bangladesh and Malaysia but will soon be available in Pakistan.
Design and Display
The crown jewel here is the availability of a 6.7-inch LCD with 720p and a glorious 120Hz refresh, making it shine in entry-level markets. Despite using an LCD, it also supports an Always-On display. The punch-hole selfie camera is also a Dynamic Bar, giving you notifications and information – something that the iPhone does with Dynamic Island.
Internals and software
The Smart 9 is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G81 SoC. But the company offers 3 GB and 4 GB RAM, with 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, the latter expandable further through a microSD card. Infinix boasts the “48-month fluency” for its 128 GB model but distinguishes that isn’t promised to be bug-free across all its usage periods and particularly was not meant to be so during its first two years. Android 14 Go Edition runs atop XOS 14.
Cameras
The rear camera is a 13MP unit, supported by a secondary sensor that caters more towards aesthetic appeal rather than actual functionality. This camera supports 1080p video recording at 30 FPS. The front holds an 8MP selfie camera featuring a wide-angle f/2.0 lens.
Battery and pricing
The Infinix Smart 9 is equipped with 5,000 mAh battery and supports 10W wired charging, as well as reverse charging. From just $65 in Malaysia, it’s yet to be announced how much the 128 GB version will cost. Color variants include Black, Mint Green, Gold, and Silver.
