Kanwal Nauman reflects on past regrets

Former Pakistani actress Kanwal Nauman recently shared the reason behind her departure from acting.

Kanwal Nauman, once a leading PTV star, was a well-known name during Pakistan’s golden age of film and television.

However, she left the entertainment industry early to pursue a career in politics. She is now an active member of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and serves as a member of the Punjab Assembly.

In an interview on Wasi Shah’s show, Kanwal discussed her decision to quit acting, her journey into politics, and the guilt she experienced while managing her son’s upbringing and household responsibilities.

She explained that, without a family background in politics, everything felt new when she transitioned from acting to a political career.

She also noted that if she had continued acting while in politics, she would have been criticized for not taking politics seriously and for treating it like just another performance.

Kanwal Nauman revealed that she still received acting offers after entering politics, but these opportunities never went beyond initial phone calls.

She speculated that production houses were hesitant to cast her due to her involvement in politics.

She also shared her biggest regret—occasionally losing her temper with her mother.

She admitted that, under the pressure of caring for her ailing mother and special needs son, she would sometimes become frustrated. She now regrets how she treated her mother during those stressful times.
