The absence of a players’ association in Pakistan was recently brought up by World Cricketers’ Association CEO Tom Moffat. He declared that there have been no talks.
Moffat stressed that players and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should decide together whether to form a players’ association.
Working together is essential, he gave his word that the association is committed to helping players in every way it can, making sure their needs are met within the rules of cricket.
Part of their irritation, according to reports, stems from the fact that Pakistani cricketers are not happy with the PCB over the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for other leagues.
It has been observed that there isn’t a player representative group because efforts to establish one in Pakistan have failed in the past. This is still a serious problem.
Moffat emphasized that the World Cricketers’ Association has left the matter of forming an association in Pakistan’s hands, respecting local governance and player autonomy.
In an exclusive interview, he stated that they communicate with various global cricket stakeholders, including international governing bodies, to explore potential collaborations.
Discussions with the PCB recently focused on possible cooperation and identifying areas where both parties could work together for mutual benefit.
Moffat reiterated the importance of supporting players while promoting cricket in Pakistan, recognizing the country’s rich cricketing history and significant role in the sport.
He expressed optimism about their long-standing relationship with the PCB regarding the Pakistan Super League (PSL), hoping to strengthen these ties further.
Moffat mentioned that Sana Mir is part of their board and that they maintain ongoing communication with Apex Sports, led by Imran Ahmed Khan.
The association looks forward to continued regular contact with the PCB and other key stakeholders to enhance the support structure for players in Pakistan.
