PakSat-MM1 to improve availability of internet connectivity

Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed the commitment of the government to use space technology for national development during the ‘PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference,’ which marked the successful operationalization of the PAKSAT-MM1 satellite.
Khawaja said PAKSAT-MM1 shall transform the communication infrastructure by connecting remote areas through internet facilities and will aid in the building of a digitally connected Pakistan. She said it is through this path of digitalization and technological advancement that Pakistan will be able to achieve socio-economic prosperity.

She further added that Pakistan has advanced by 14 points in the UN’s e-governance development index and is only one of two Asian countries that are progressing from the middle to high tiers of digital e-governance.
The Chairman SUPARCO, Muhammad Yousuf Khan was full of praise for the team’s achievements and lauded the satellite for developing socio-economic development and catapulting Pakistan into higher tiers of the global space industry. He called upon the local industries to collaborate in developing space activity ecosystems. Speakers at the conference averred that PAKSAT-MM1 has a great role in reducing the digital divide and would facilitate growth of the economy in new areas. More than 15 years, high-speed broadband and other essential services should be provided.
