The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have decided to work together on the drafting of a constitutional amendment.
This came about as a result of a meeting on Thursday between Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of JUI-F, and a team from the PTI. During the discussion, they talked about the proposed amendment and the political climate. Salman Akram Raja, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Akhunzada Hussain were among the PTI delegation members.
Later, JUI-F senator Kamran Murtaza, who was present at the meeting, confirmed that work was still being done on the amendment draft.
Sources claim that both parties have agreed that Senator Kamran Murtaza and Barrister Salman Akram Raja will collaborate to prepare the amendment that the opposition has settled upon.
Later, Barrister Raja told the press that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was totally on board with their cause. He made it clear that any attempt to create a “puppet” constitutional court will be met with resistance from the PTI and JUI-F. He also said that the government had acted dishonestly in trying to adopt the amendment.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position was appreciated by Sahibzada Hamid Raza, who also expressed his desire that both parties will collaborate on a joint amendment proposal.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman responded by assuring the PTI delegation of his steadfast support and stating that choices will be taken as a group. His words, according to sources, were, “I stand with the opposition, and all decisions will be unanimous.”
The transfer of judges to the high court was likewise denied by both sides. In response to a letter from judges of the Islamabad High Court, the PTI delegation contended that the proposed alteration seemed to be intended to undermine the judiciary.
Senator Kamran Murtaza expressed his understanding of PTI’s worries, concurring that an amendment of this nature seemed to have hidden agendas in the present situation.
