Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif have inaugurated the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme.

Maryam Nawaz stated that development has now begun, and the politics of chaos and unrest is fading away; these individuals will soon become a thing of the past.

According to media, a ceremony was held at the Expo Center Lahore auditorium for the distribution of checks for loans under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme.

The event was attended by high-ranking government officials, loan recipients, and a large number of citizens. Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz distributed checks to male and female recipients.

In her address at the ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz mentioned that the idea of the “Your Roof, Your Home” scheme was proposed by Nawaz Sharif, who regularly sought updates on the project.

She noted that Nawaz Sharif had instructed her to remain focused on serving the public.

The scheme aims to provide loans amounting to 700 billion rupees, with the government planning to start disbursing these loans within just a month and a half.

She further stated that Nawaz Sharif instructed her to provide homes to the people, declaring that everything else would follow.

The scheme has received 500,000 applications, and it is designed to ensure that each district participates in proportion to its population.

The plan aims to provide loans to 500,000 individuals over five years, resulting in the construction of 500,000 homes.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that if the government were to build these homes itself, it could lead to many complications.

However, this scheme makes it extremely easy to obtain loans, with minimal requirements. Loans will only require an identity card and land documentation, and the loans will be awarded purely on merit.

In the first year, they aim to provide loans for 100,000 homes, with a repayment period of nine years at zero interest, allowing more people to receive loans each month.

She acknowledged the assistance provided by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for the project and insisted that loan repayments should not exceed 15,000 rupees to minimize the financial burden on citizens.

Maryam stated that there will be a monthly lottery for loans. Initially, loans were to be disbursed in four installments, but now they will be given in two equal parts, with no repayments required in the first three months.

Applications can be submitted online, or citizens can visit the offices of the Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner for information.

She assured that no one will run away with the loan as there is no need to pledge anything under this scheme, which will feature similar types of homes.

She also mentioned that they have initiated a project for children’s heart surgeries, resulting in numerous operations for children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

She reaffirmed that her government is open to serving the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in education, health, and employment.

In her political remarks, Maryam Nawaz stated that the country is in a position to take off, although some people are still focused on chaos and protests.

She expressed her unwillingness to respond to their provocations, noting that despite multiple calls for protests, no one showed up.

Maryam added that calls for protests are coming from prison, but they will not allow one province to be set against another.

She questioned whether such directives for public welfare could genuinely come from jail, emphasizing that while political activities are permitted, terrorism is not.

She criticized those trained to create chaos and hinder progress, recalling incidents from 2014 when protesters violently attacked police officers.

She concluded by asserting that development has now begun and the politics of chaos is fading away, expressing hope that these individuals will soon be a thing of the past.

Maryam stated she is providing healthcare facilities at people’s doorsteps, emphasizing significant work in controlling dengue through the “Clinic on Wheels” initiative, and urged that the country should be allowed to advance and develop.
