The Punjab government has denied reports of roadblocks leading to the PTI rally venue in Lahore. However, the government’s claim contradicts clear evidence suggesting otherwise.
Instead, the Punjab government maintained that the public rejected PTI due to its disruptive agenda. Multiple reports indicated that the police used containers to block roads leading to the rally venue throughout the day to prevent a large crowd from reaching the site.
Only those on foot managed to reach the rally venue, overcoming significant government-placed obstacles, and had to cover a long distance to get there.
The venue was deliberately chosen to be far from the city.
According to sources, a team of 200 police officers led by an SP was prepared to stop the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s convoy, but the plan was called off at 11 p.m. to avoid confrontation.
Media coverage of the rally was also kept to a minimum; in fact, the focus was more on the government’s efforts to hinder the rally than on the rally itself.
Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari and Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb insisted that the Chief Minister of Punjab had given PTI a free hand and that it was PTI’s responsibility to bring people to the rally.
