Sara Arjun chosen opposite Ranveer Singh from 1200 auditions

A fresh face wins big as Sara Arjun lands lead role alongside Ranveer Singh

In the Bollywood film Dhurandhar, over 1,200 actresses auditioned for the lead role opposite Ranveer Singh. However, the film’s team made a surprising choice by selecting 20-year-old Sara Arjun for the role.

According to Indian media reports, casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently explained the reasoning behind this decision in an interview.

He revealed that both he and director Aditya Dhar received a large number of applications, but the team had been specifically searching for a fresh face someone who would feel like a natural part of the film’s world and did not carry a pre-established on-screen image.

Chhabra further explained that in the storyline, Ranveer Singh’s character travels to Pakistan and meets a new girl. Therefore, it was important to cast someone whose presence would feel authentic and believable to the audience, without any prior screen persona interfering with the character.

Although Sara Arjun has previously worked in the industry as a child artist, she has not yet appeared as a lead actress in a major film. This factor ultimately worked in her favor, and after multiple rounds of auditions, she was finalized for the character “Yalina.”
