Pakistan marks a strong presence in THE World University Rankings 2026 with 99 universities, as global leaders like Oxford and Princeton continue to excel

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 have been released, featuring 2,191 universities from 115 countries and territories, reaffirming its status as the world’s most trusted university ranking system for students, academics, policymakers, and industry experts.

A total of 99 Pakistani universities are featured in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, out of which 48 institutions are ranked, while the remaining universities hold “Reporter” status, indicating their participation in the evaluation process without a formal ranking.

Here is the list of Pakistani universities with their respective rankings: University has been ranked 10th among Pakistani universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, released today. Ranked for the first time, the university has performed commendably across all indicators and has also secured a position among the top 10 Pakistani institutions in the areas of Research Quality and International Outlook, underscoring its strong research impact and expanding global engagement.

Global Highlights University of Oxford retains the world’s number one position for the tenth consecutive year, driven by its strong performance in research and academic environment. Princeton University has climbed to joint third place, achieving its best-ever position among global institutions. China continues to rise, now placing five universities in the top 40, compared to three last year.

Hong Kong secures a record six universities in the top 200, fueled by improvements in teaching quality and learning outcomes. India achieves a major milestone, becoming the second most-represented country in the rankings after the United States, marking a historic leap in its higher education performance.
