Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump confirmed last week that he won’t be running for the White House for the fourth straight time if he loses the election on November 5. In an interview with Sharyl Attkisson’s “Full Measure,” Trump, now 78 years old, said, “I don’t see that at all. I think that will be — that will be it. Hopefully, we will be successful.”
Trump is running hard to keep up with the close race against Democratic U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, though different polls say this could be a battle for key battleground states, even when national polls show Harris has signs she is closing the gap.
Trump launched his latest White House bid in November 2022. Previously, on the eve of his inauguration in 2017, he declared his candidacy for the 2020 reelection bid. He has continued claiming that his defeat by President Joe Biden in the 2020 contest happened due to “massive fraud.” Since then, he has been charged with federal and state crimes over the effort to nullify that election. Trump denies any wrongdoing, calling the allegations part of a “continuing witch hunt” against him.
Those business ventures – besides his campaign – include Trump Media, NFTs, and his branded shoes and coins.
Harris, 59, has talked about family expenses, housing costs, and more in framing the contest as a moment of crisis for American democracy.
Commenting on his break from the presidency, Trump said that it would have been easier had he stayed because it had shown “the failings of those who were with him.” Then he added, “It’s too early to negotiate cabinet jobs if one wins in November as what matters most is finding the right team.”.
