Iran strikes back with ballistic missile
Iran responded to Israel’s operations against Hezbollah partners in Lebanon and the killings of their leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah and Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, with a show of force that included launching a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel.
All around Israel, sirens went off and people hurried to bomb bunkers. Reporters from state television hid during live broadcasts when explosions were heard in Jerusalem and the Jordan River valley. Israeli media estimated that some 100 missiles were launched, according to reports that Israel intercepted missiles over neighboring Jordan.
After roughly an hour, the Israeli military said that there was no longer any threat and that people could come out of their shelters. They gave the reason that a “large number” of missiles had been intercepted.
After an Israeli raid on Iran’s consulate in Damascus in April, the country launched its second missile assault against Israel. This one involved missiles and drones.Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari declared, “This attack will have consequences,” as Israel threatened to react. We intend to take action at a time and location of our choice.”
According to emergency personnel, during the missile attack, at least two people received minor injuries from shrapnel. The majority of injuries, according to the Magen David Adom emergency service, were caused by fear as people ran for cover.
The Revolutionary Guards of Iran said that the missile attacks were a direct reaction to the demise of important Hamas and Hezbollah figures. They threatened Israel with “crushing attacks” if it struck back. The Guards declared, “The Zionist regime will face crushing attacks if it reacts to Iranian operations.”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, approved the missile launch, a senior Iranian official said, highlighting Tehran’s readiness for any possible reprisal. The strikes on Israel have been described as a “legal, rational, and legitimate response to terrorist acts” by Iran’s envoy to the United Nations in New York.
