Work begins on construction of first air taxi station in Dubai

Dubai: The construction of the first air taxi station has begun in Dubai.

According to foreign media reports, the official inauguration of the air taxi station will take place in the first quarter of 2026.

According to the report, the company responsible for the air taxi service, “Joby” stated that the air taxi service will mark the beginning of a new era which will also be environmentally friendly.

The director of the Dubai Transport and Road Authority mentioned that the construction of more air taxi stations will soon commence. The air taxi service will be used on routes connecting major hotels, airports and tourist destinations. Four air taxi stations will be constructed in different areas of Dubai.

The air taxi will have six propellers and four batteries enabling it to cover a distance of 161 kilometers.

According to the director, the air taxi, developed by the company associated with the project will have four seats and a speed of up to 320 kilometers per hour. The air taxi will have vertical takeoff and landing capabilities eliminating the need for traditional runways and allowing it to land in common areas.

With the air taxi, one can travel from Jumeirah Beach to the airport in 10 minutes, a journey that usually takes 45 minutes by regular taxi.
