YouTube plans to crack down on fakers who use artificial intelligence to create videos YouTube has said it will soon allow its users to request that fakes created by artificial intelligence be removed from the platform, as well as to feature content that appears to be verified, according to a foreign news agency report. The videos will also require a label.
According to the report, new rules on artificial intelligence-generated video content will come into effect in the coming months as fears of the technology being misused for fraud, misinformation or fake portrayals of people in pornography are growing. Emily Moxley and Jennifer Flannery, YouTube’s vice presidents of product management, said in a blog post that we will make it possible to request the removal of AI and other artificial or manipulated content that impersonates identifiable persons, including their face or voice.
In evaluating these requests, YouTube will consider whether the videos are humorous and whether the real people depicted in them can be identified. YouTube also plans to oblige creators to clarify when realistic video was created using artificial intelligence to alert viewers with the label, the report said.
Emily Moxley and Jennifer Flannery added that they are also introducing requests for their music partners to remove artificial intelligence-generated music content that imitates an artist’s unique singing or rapping voice.
