These accusations were reported by international media. In another instance, forty days after being married, a woman filed for divorce, claiming her spouse “doesn’t bathe daily.”
PhD holder Rania wed Ali, a 33-year-old university physician.
She clarified that despite Ali’s far lower social standing than her own, she had approved of the marriage due to their comparable educational backgrounds.
The recentlywed bride said that despite her intuition that he wasn’t the best man based on his actions, she chose to ignore it in the hopes that He would start treating her differently.
But his true colors quickly came to light. Rania revealed that she tripped and fell during the ceremony on her wedding day.
Her spouse made fun of her in front of the visitors as she hurriedly attempted to stand up, calling her a “donkey.” Rania continued, saying that her brother got involved and responded with the same slur, starting a family quarrel. Following this, she left the wedding and returned to her parents’ house.
When Rania’s husband tried to bring her back a few days later, her father and brother objected and asked for a divorce from him. It’s important to note that divorce and khula cases in Egypt reached record highs last year.
Divorce cases saw an 81.3% annual increase, with judgments passed in 8,684 out of 10,683 cases.
