It was initially assumed to drop on September 25, but new information directly from a Korean retailer offers a clear timeline about Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. According to renowned leakster Evan Blass, Samsung’s foldable will go by the official name of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, putting an end to previous rumors that put up names such as Galaxy Z Fold Slim or even Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra.
Meant to run against the Honor Magic V3 and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, at least not with ultra-slim profiles, this Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a bent contender at its thinnest yet. Recent leaks however, have brought to light pre-order information and release dates. “Pre-ordering in Korea will begin on the 18th of October and will end on the 24th. It will be available in Korea starting from the 25th of October itself.”.
There had been some speculation that the date for September 25 was accurate but, as later updated, may have been a month off. Some confusion had arisen on the name due to leaked retailer pages that have since gone behind lock and key, though it seems the device will indeed be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
The leaked spec sheet indicates that it will carry an 8-inch inward foldable screen, a 6.5-inch outer cover screen, and a more powerful 200MP primary camera. It is expected to be much slimmer, according to rumors, compared to its predecessor the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which launched in July at 10.6mm folded.
Unfortunately, this seems to be a limited edition release only for Korea and China, hence raising the question on whether Samsung would ever plan to make this device more available to their fans.
