Gmail rolls out AI-Powered smart replies

Google is finally rolling out one of the AI features it announced at its I/O developer conference in May: AI-powered smart replies for Gmail. This is a new feature, powered by Google’s Gemini AI, to make replying faster and more efficient for both Android and iOS users.

Where Gmail had smart replies available since 2017, they lacked some full context, often missing what’s actually happening within conversations. The new AI-powered version of smart replies promises to create smarter suggestions with better knowledge of the content and tone of the entire email thread. The users will now get the contents of three suggested replies within a carousel while looking to reply back to that particular email. The alternative will vary in tone, so users can use the one that will fit the occasion most.

When selecting an alternative, users can preview the phrase by long pressing on the same and tapping to insert the response, which will include an appropriate greeting and closing. Furthermore, they can make all the changes to the text before sending to fit their intended message.

For its subscribers with Gemini Business, Education, Education Premium, Enterprise, and Google One AI Premium, New Contextual Smart Replies will be introduced.
