Haris Tahir triumphs over England’s Blackwell in British open second round

Pakistan’s Haris Tahir showcased his skills, defeating England’s Simon Blackwell in the second round of the British Open 2024, held in Cheltenham.

Tahir started strong, winning the first two frames decisively with scores of 71-32 and 63-16, demonstrating his excellent form.

Blackwell managed to win the third frame, scoring a notable 56-point break, narrowing Tahir’s lead to 2-1 in the match.

However, Tahir, riding high on momentum, swiftly regained control, winning the next two frames convincingly to secure a spot in the Last 32.

Earlier, Tahir qualified for the tournament’s final stages by defeating Scotland’s Dean Young in a hard-fought qualifying round last month.

In that match, Tahir took an early lead by winning the first frame with a score of 58-43, setting the tone.

Young fought back, narrowly winning the second frame 68-65, showing his determination to stay competitive in the match.

Tahir bounced back by claiming the third frame 78-31 and continued his impressive play, winning the fourth frame 74-13.

The match intensified as Young dominated the fifth frame, winning 73-48, before narrowly edging out Tahir 69-62 in the sixth.
