Increase in inflation rate; prices of over 100 essential items rise

The weekly inflation rate in the country has increased, resulting in a rise in the prices of over 100 essential items.

According to the inflation report released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, there has been a slight increase in the weekly inflation rate. In the recent week, the inflation rate rose by 0.05%, while the annual inflation rate stood at 12.80%.

During the past week, prices of 116 essential items increased, while prices of 9 essential items decreased, and 26 items remained stable.

The report indicates that during the recent week, the prices of tomatoes increased by 5.78%, onions by 5.49%, chickpeas by 1.01%, potatoes by 0.94%, jaggery by 0.82%, firewood by 0.64%, and LPG by 0.15%.

Additionally, fresh milk prices increased by 0.26%, and yogurt prices by 0.32%. The prices of moong lentils rose by 1.35%, mashed lentils by 1.80%, sugar by 1.30%, bananas by 1.27%, lentils by 0.93%, and flour by 0.66%.

Moreover, the prices of eggs decreased by 0.28%, and cooking oil prices fell by 0.18%.

The statistics indicate that during the recent week, the inflation rate for the monthly income group earning up to 17,732 PKR increased by 0.08%, reaching 9.20%.

For the group earning between 17,733 PKR and 22,888 PKR, the inflation rate increased by 0.07%, reaching 13.22%. For the income group earning between 22,889 PKR and 29,517 PKR, the inflation rate rose by 0.05%, reaching 16.18%.

For those earning between 29,518 PKR and 44,175 PKR, the inflation rate increased by 0.05%, reaching 13.14%.

Finally, for the income group earning more than 44,176 PKR, the inflation rate increased by 0.04%, settling at 11.0%.
